1G: 1G signifies first-generation wireless analog technology standards that originated in 80s. 1G is the first-generation cell phone standards now replaced by 2G and 3G.
2G: 2G signifies second-generation wireless digital technology. 2G technology prevails in the current cell phone network and it is going to be replaced by 3G Technology.
3G: 3G is the third generation of mobile phone standards and technology. 3G offers faster internet connectivity and video calling.
3GPP: 3rd Generation Partnership Project A technical standards group focusing on GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, and related technologies.
4G: 4G is the technology that is coming soon. 4G is the fourth generation cell phone technology.

A-GPS: A-GPS stands for Assisted GPS. A-GPS is used to speed up start-up times of GPS-based positioning systems. At times A-GPS help to get lock while signal is week.
A2DP: A2DP stands for Advanced Audio Distribution Profile. A2DP is used for streaming stereo music wirelessly to headphones or speakers over Bluetooth. Unlike other Bluetooth profiles A2DP is one-way only and streams a stereo signal.

AAC: AAC stands for Advanced Audio Coding. AAC is a file format commonly used for storing music and digital audio on the Internet, PCs and portable music players and phones. AAC+ and AAC++ are newer versions of this format.

Accelerometer: The accelerometer is a built-in electronic component that measures tilt and motion. This helps to activate auto screen rotation on mobile devices when the user changes their orientation from portrait to landscape or vice-versa.

Alphanumeric: Alphanumeric is the most common input keys for mobile devices. It include a string of characters containing both letters (A-Z) and numbers (0-9).

AMOLED: AMOLED display stands for Active-matrix organic light-emitting diode display. It consumes lesser power and these displays can be folded.

Analog: Analog is an older method of transmitting data.

Android: Android is a popular Linux-based smart phone operating system and software platform created by Google. The latest mobiles use android as their operating system.

APN: APN stands for Access Point Name. APN is the web addressof an access point for GPRS/EDGE/UMTS data connection provided by service provider.
